A Quick Bio
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but grew up in Des Moines, Iowa.  My interest in accounting started in the U.S. Army when I was made an accounting specialist.  I later received my bachelor’s degree in 2002 from the University of Iowa, with a double major in Economics and Finance.  Shortly after graduation I followed my wife to Houston, Texas so she could attend medical school at Baylor.  While we were there I worked as an analyst for two years and then got into public accounting with a prestigious local firm and obtained my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

In 2006 we moved to Salt Lake City for my wife’s medical residency.  I continued my accounting career with a local firm and obtained my MBA from the University of Utah with an emphasis in Tax, Finance and Operations.  After my wife finished her three-year residency, and one-year fellowship, we decided to make Utah our permanent home.  Having worked as an employee at multiple companies for over 15 years (LinkedIn page), I finally decided it was time to start my own firm.  In 2013 I opened up JDS Financial Management PC.

Why I Decided to Start my Own Firm
There are numerous reasons.  Obviously most people would rather be their own boss and the flexibility of being “self-employed” is very desirable – but the main reason was to be able to deliver value to my clients, to provide quality advice at a reasonable fee.  I wanted to bring my expertise to the types of clients who need it most – individuals and small businesses.

When you work with JDS Financial Management you will be working directly with me.  I am available and responsive and focus on delivering quality work in a timely and professional manner.  I utilize the latest technologies to increase efficiency and keep overhead costs at a minimum.  These savings get passed on to my clients.
